Frequently asked questions

Is SpamCatcher a normal email account?

No.

SpamCatcher is an receiving SpamBox for low-sensitivity signups.

It is intentionally missing most normal email features.

Can I send email from my SpamCatcher address?

No.

You cannot compose messages or send from your SpamCatcher address. You can send an individual sanitized copy to your verified account email.

Can I reply to an email?

Not by email.

You can use a verification link or code contained in a message.

If a service requires you to send an email reply, use a normal email account instead.

Does SpamCatcher automatically forward messages to my regular inbox?

No. Messages stay in your SpamBox by default.

SpamCatcher does not offer arbitrary forwarding or recipient entry.

You can send a sanitized copy of an individual message to your verified account email only, with strict abuse controls and rate limits.

How long are messages kept?

Messages are retained for the configured retention period, currently 30 days, and then automatically deleted.

The address can remain assigned to you even though old messages are removed.

Can I receive attachments?

SpamCatcher discards general attachments by default.

Supported PDFs that pass format checks and malware scanning can be downloaded or included when you send a sanitized copy to your verified account email. Other attachments, files that cannot be scanned, and files exceeding the limits are discarded. Scanning does not guarantee a file is harmless.

Do remote images load automatically?

No.

Images stay hidden until you select Load images. Loading remote images may let the sender know you opened the message.

Can I use SpamCatcher for banking?

You should not.

Use SpamCatcher for low-sensitivity consumer signups.

Do not use it for banking, healthcare, government services, password managers, or other accounts where losing access could cause serious harm.

Is my SpamCatcher address temporary?

No.

SpamCatcher is designed around a steady address rather than a short-lived disposable address.

The address is never reassigned to another customer.

Active mail service requires an active subscription.

Will every website accept my SpamCatcher address?

No email provider can guarantee that.

Some websites reject certain email domains.

If a SpamCatcher receiving domain becomes widely rejected, we may offer an alternate receiving domain to affected customers at no extra charge.

Why not just make another Gmail account?

You can.

A second full email account is a perfectly reasonable solution.

SpamCatcher exists for people who want something narrower: one address, one inbound inbox, and none of the extra mailbox features.

Why isn't SpamCatcher free?

Keeping the service paid helps support the infrastructure and discourages anonymous abuse.

The goal is a small, predictable utility rather than a free public inbox.

Can I change my username later?

The SpamBox username should be treated as permanent.

If compatibility requires another receiving domain, SpamCatcher may allow the same username on an alternate receiving domain.

What happens if I cancel?

Your subscription stops renewing.

Your account page shows when inbound service will end.

Previously assigned addresses are never recycled to another customer.

Sending a copy and file limits

You can make up to 25 send attempts in a rolling 24 hours, including failed attempts, and successfully send each message up to 3 times in that period. Supported PDFs are limited to 5 files, 5 MiB per file and 5 MiB combined per message. Forwarded copies omit all images, including embedded coupons, barcodes, and QR codes. Links may retain tracking parameters.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. You can request a full refund within 14 days of any subscription charge, including a renewal. Go to Account > Billing and choose Request refund. Eligible requests are processed automatically after a short survey and confirmation.

A refund ends receiving service. If you only want to stop the next renewal, cancel your subscription instead; receiving continues through your paid period.

See the Terms of Service for post-refund access, processing, and reactivation details.
